For A Reason

Have you been seriously struggling lately? It’s okay, we all have those points in our lives when we start to question what exactly is going on in our world. It’s normal to wonder what in the world we did wrong when things don’t go our way. We see things going wrong as some sort of sign that we need to stop or change direction. But what if that isn’t what’s going on? What if you are being presented with a challenge in order to overcome it and you just keep changing direction in order to avoid it? Maybe, just maybe, these challenges are being presented to you so that you can overcome them. Learn and grow from them into the person you are meant to be.

Many times, God puts things in our paths to test our reaction to them. Do you run and hide? Fight? Or maybe you use a rational approach to overcome the obstacle and keep heading down your path. This absolutely is relevant to your fitness journey. It could be a yoga pose that you just can’t seem to nail or a weight plateau you continue to struggle to bust. It’s your own personal challenge that you need to meet. Stand up and show the world what you are really made of! Work through your challenge as if you were standing before God. Would you quit if you knew He was standing there? Would you question why it was happening?

I think it more likely that you would trust that he was having you do it all for a reason. You would do as he instructed, multiple times if you needed in order to get it right. There wouldn’t be any complaining, okay maybe a little if he requested a bunch of burpees, but you would do it. You would trust in His judgement and do it because that is what was expected. That is because you trust that nothing God allows into your life is pointless. We trust that everything happens for a reason. The same can be said of that stubborn plateau or the fact that if you choose to indulge in a single can of pop you bloat like Violet from Willy Wonka. These things have been given to you for a reason. Nothing that God allows into your life is pointless. It’s all for a very specific reason or lesson. That doesn’t mean it won’t be painless. It may be a serious struggle and something that you have to wrestle with for years. No lesson worth learning comes easily, after all.

So the next time you find yourself dealing with a personal struggle of yours, pause and take a moment. Remember that there is a lesson there for you to learn, even if it’s not so easy to see at the time. Once you keep things in perspective that way, it becomes easier to rise above it. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and trust that this is a big part of your journey.
